REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology
Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from the study of
reflexes in the body. They are based on the principle that these reflexes map to other parts, glands and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these locations, reflexology therapy can relieve tension, improve circulation and support the body’s efforts to function optimally.
The body has the innate ability to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or
disease, it is in a state of imbalance. Vital body systems can be blocked,
preventing the body from functioning optimally. Reflexology can be used to restore
and maintain our natural balance and facilitate healing. For each person, the
application and the effect of the therapy are unique. Sensitive, trained hands detect
tiny deposits and imbalances. By working on these points, the Reflexology
Therapist can release these blockages.
Reflexology is one of the safest and least invasive complementary therapeutic
practices available. By stimulating more than 7,000 nerves in the feet, reflexology
encourages the opening and clearing of neural pathways. Reflexology therapy
interrupts pain pathways resulting in significant pain reduction.

Reflexology can assist in conditions such as:
Allergies Arthritis Asthma Back Pain Bowel Disorders Constipation Edema Frozen Shoulder High Blood Pressure Insomnia Knee/ Hip Shoulder Pain Menopause Multiple Sclerosis Muscle Tension Neck Pain PMS/Hormonal Dysregulation Respiratory Problems Sinusitis Stress Trauma/Loss/Grief Tennis Elbow Thyroid Imbalance

The feet are the foundation and roots of our bodies. They hold so much more information than we realize. When our feet are open, there is a ripple effect up to other areas of the body; for example, to the knees, hips, and spine. Our feet map our whole body. They shed insight on our organ systems and highlight areas that need extra attention.
What to expect in a Reflexology session:
You will be asked to fill out a brief medical and general health history form. After a discussion about your health, you will be placed in a relaxing and comfortable position on a massage table. An eye cover will be provided, so you may rest your eyes during treatment. The session begins with a cleansing of the feet with hot towels followed by a variety of gentle warm up techniques to assess what your body needs. Each foot is gently treated by a thumb or finger walking motion over all the reflex points. Both feet are treated to completion as the body is considered in its entirety; the full sequence starts with the right foot and ends with the left.
Each treatment may feel slightly different. Your feet and body will feel relaxed; your mind will feel quiet. Overall you will experience a greater sense of harmony in all body systems. You are invited to experience the session as a time to let go of worldly responsibilities. As a reflexology therapist, I will not attempt to engage you in conversation, my goal is to allow you the time and space you need to fully relax. The purpose of reflexology is to support the body’s nervous system to enter a parasympathetic state, which supports the natural healing process.

Please wear comfortable clothing with pants or tights that can be rolled up to the knee and comfortable footwear for after the treatment. It is advised to drink plenty of water to help the body release any toxins released during treatment.
How many Reflexology treatments will I need?
For clients with acute or chronic conditions, it is ideal is to have a session once a
week for 5-7 weeks. The goal is to take care of the current situation, gradually
increasing the time between sessions until the optimum of once a month is obtained
for general well being, preventative care and good health. The effect of Reflexology
therapy is cumulative. Just as it takes time for certain conditions to arise in the
body, so it takes time to bring the body back to a state of balance.
Zoe is a delightful, calm, very skilled professional therapist with a lovely room for her clients. The foot reflexology treatments I receive from Zoe are blissfully relaxing and support my general health as well as the recovery from sports injuries.
